Kuster Continues North Country Tour with Veterans Choice Card Forum in Berlin and CBOC Ribbon Cutting in Littleton

Berlin and Littleton, NH – On August 28, Congresswoman Kuster spent the second day of her North Country tour in the Berlin and Littleton regions to connect with constituents and hear from them about local issues that are important to the community.

“I was so grateful for the opportunity to meet with and hear from so many community members in Berlin and Littleton today to discuss how Congress can continue to support their needs in the North Country,” said Congresswoman Kuster. “I was proud to be a part of announcing USDA’s innovative pilot program, Better Homes, that makes it easier for locals to afford and secure manufactured homes. And as a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, I was especially glad to hear from so many veterans today during a forum on the Veterans Choice Card about how we can ensure that Granite State veterans are able to access the high quality services that they have earned and deserve. I am also thrilled that Littleton’s new Community Based Outpatient Clinic is now able to provide some of these vital services for our North Country veterans at a new state of the art facility. I will use the feedback I heard today to continue advocating in Congress on behalf of these communities.”

Kuster’s day kicked off with a forum to discuss the roll out of the Veterans Choice Card Program, which Kuster pushed for as a Member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee following the VA scandals across the country in 2014. After the forum, Kuster participated in a press conference that announced a new pilot program, Better Homes, which in partnership with USDA-Rural Development will be able to provide financing for the purchase of manufactured homes to area residents. Kuster concluded the day by joining with VA representatives and other officials at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Littleton.

A member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee since taking office, Congresswoman Kuster helped lead the investigation into mismanagement scandals at the VA last year, and earlier this year she was named Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. This role allows the Congresswoman to continue to put additional pressure on the VA to improve access and quality of care, so every Granite State veteran can access the health services he or she needs.
