Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement applauding last night’s passage of legislation to award the Congressional Gold Medal to the surviving members of the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders, a team of heroic World War II pilots. Salem couple Brian and Cyndee Anderson advocated on behalf of the pilots in favor of the legislation.    

“I’m so pleased the House acted today to award the Congressional Gold Medal to the four surviving members of the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders. These men put their lives on the line to serve and protect our country, and they deserve to receive the highest honor for their selflessness, bravery, and valor.

“What’s more, I’m so proud of Brian and Cyndee Anderson, a couple from New Hampshire’s own town of Salem, for stepping up and leading the charge in helping these pilots receive the recognition they so clearly deserved. I was proud to join in the fight at their request and cosponsor the legislation that passed the House last night, and I’m proud to say we’re one step closer to awarding the pilots with the Congressional Gold Medal. My heartfelt thanks and congratulations goes out to all of them.”

Upon this legislation’s approval by the Senate and the President, the four pilots who will be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal as a result of the passage of H.R. 1209 are:
