This afternoon, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement regarding the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) announcement that it will be distributing nearly $1 million in federal fishery disaster assistance this week to New Hampshire:

“New Hampshire’s fishing industry has suffered devastating losses due to declining fish populations and strict federal regulations, and I’m glad the federal government is providing much-needed assistance for this vital New Hampshire industry. We must ensure our fisheries have the resources they need to recover and thrive, and I urge NOAA to release all remaining disaster-assistance funds to New Hampshire, so we can continue to support the economic success of Granite State fishermen.”

New Hampshire will receive more than $2 million of disaster-assistance relief in total from NOAA. After this round of funding, $1.1 million in funding still remains to be distributed to the state.
