CONCORD, N.H. – Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) today applauded Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel for proposing changes to the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) that would help protect victims of military sexual trauma. “I applaud Secretary Hagel for confronting the need to address the ongoing epidemic of sexual assault in our military. Preventing military senior commanders from altering court-martial verdicts for sexual assault cases represents an important step in the right direction. We owe it to every victim of military sexual assault to work together to prevent future crimes and hold attackers accountable for their actions. I look forward to working with the Pentagon and members of both parties to do exactly that.” In an op ed yesterday, Kuster called for Congressional action to address the growing epidemic of military sexual trauma. ### |
