Kuster Helps Introduce Bipartisan Save III Act to Cut $100 Billion in Wasteful Spending
Washington, DC,
July 18, 2014
Representative Annie Kuster (NH-02) has helped introduce the bipartisan Savings, Accountability, and Efficiency (SAVE) III Act, which will cut approximately $102 billion in government spending over 10 years. The bill will accomplish the savings by identifying and eliminating wasteful programs and improving government efficiency. “Congress must work together to reduce our nation’s deficit and debt so we can make smart investments that move our economy forward,” said Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02). “I’ve long advocated for the elimination of duplicative and wasteful programs in the government, and I’m proud to work with my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to put forward this common sense legislation. The SAVE III Act will cut unnecessary spending, improve government efficiency, and save taxpayers approximately $102 billion over ten years. I call on my colleagues in Congress to swiftly pass this responsible piece of legislation.” The Save III Act would save taxpayer dollars and improve government efficiency by taking a number of steps to cut government waste. These steps include:
The Save III Act is an extension of Congressman Patrick Murphy’s (FL-18) SAVE Act and SAVE II Act. Combined, these three bills would save an estimated $332 billion over three years. Colleagues from both sides of the aisle joining Kuster in introducing the SAVE III Act include: Reps. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), Joe Garcia (D-FL), David Jolly (R-FL), Jim Matheson (D-UT), Mark Meadows (R-NC), Mick Mulvaney (R-SC), Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Eric Swalwell (D-CA), Tom Rice (R-SC), and Raul Ruiz (D-CA). Kuster is committed to cutting waste and inefficiency across the federal government while protecting important services for New Hampshire families and seniors. Last year, she partnered with Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) to introduce the Closing Long-Empty Accounts Now Act (CLEAN Act), legislation that would force federal agencies to eliminate empty bank accounts that cost millions to maintain despite serving no purpose. Kuster is also a founding member of the United Solutions Caucus, a bipartisan coalition of new members of Congress who are focused on finding common sense solutions to our nation’s fiscal challenges. ### |
