Kuster Honors Easter Seals NH and Veterans Count at “Salute Our Soldiers” Breakfast

Kuster applauded organizations’ work on behalf of Granite State veterans and military families

Manchester, NH – Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) applauded Easter Seals NH and Veterans Count for their work on behalf of veterans, active duty servicemen and women, and their families at the 7th annual “Salute our Soldiers” breakfast in Manchester.  Kuster joined Governor Maggie Hassan, Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Senator Kelly Ayotte, and Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter to commemorate the occasion.

“Our veterans and their families make grave sacrifices to protect the freedom of all Americans. It is our responsibility to help ensure their transition back to civilian life is as smooth as possible, and Easter Seals and Veterans Count work toward that important goal every single day,” said Congresswoman Kuster. “The employment, housing, and mental health services they provide are essential in the effort to support our servicemen and women. I am honored to have the opportunity to express my gratitude and appreciation for everything that they do.”

Veterans Count is an Easter Seals program that was created in 2007 to provide a full range of services to veterans and their families who are affected by deployments. Together, Easter Seals NH and Veterans Count work to provide crucial services to veterans and their families, including employment counseling, housing support, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and other programs.

Kuster, a member of the U.S. House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, regularly meets with Granite State veterans to learn more about how Congress can best support them. In August, Kuster met with local veterans in Keene to hear about their experiences at the local VA medical centers, and met with veterans, VA leaders, and local advocates during tours of the Keene Community-Based Outpatient Clinic and Keene Vet Center.  Earlier that month, she held a Veterans Jobs and Resource Fair at Harbor Homes in Nashua to help connect local veterans with employment opportunities and community resources.
