Kuster Hosts Roundtable Discussion in Keene with Local Veterans

During the discussion, Kuster shared information about important resources for Granite State veterans

Keene, NH – This afternoon, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) met with local veterans and advocates to discuss access to health care, mental health services, and other issues facing Granite State veterans. At the roundtable discussion, Kuster was also joined by staff members from Southwestern Community Services and other agencies, who shared information about counseling services and other community resources available for veterans across the Monadnock Region.

“I was so grateful to get a chance to hear from local veterans about their concerns at my roundtable in Keene today,” said Congresswoman Annie Kuster. “We owe our veterans a great debt of gratitude for their service, and we must do everything possible to ensure they have access to the support and resources they need. I also thank Southwestern Community Services for hosting the roundtable and helping me to share information about services that are available to our veterans right here in their own community.”

Kuster, a member of the U.S. House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, routinely meets with Granite State veterans to learn more about how Congress can best support their needs. During today’s roundtable, she heard from local veterans about their experiences at the local VA medical centers, and she will take their stories back to Washington when the U.S. House of Representatives reconvenes in September in order to ensure they are receiving the highest quality of care.  Kuster is a cosponsor of the recently passed VA reform bill, so during today’s roundtable she also gave roundtable participants an update about the specifics of the bill, which includes important new resources for Granite State veterans. Earlier in the day, she met with veterans, VA leaders, and local advocates during tours of the Keene Community-Based Outpatient Clinic and Keene Vet Center.
