Kuster Statement on Anniversary of Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act Becoming Law
Washington, DC,
January 29, 2016
This afternoon, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement regarding the anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act being signed into law on this date seven years ago: “Seven years ago, President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law. This legislation was made possible by the courageous acts of a female worker who stood up against pay discrimination and paved the way for other women across the country to fight back against inequality. The law in her name goes a long way towards helping women receive the equal pay for equal work that they deserve – but as women in New Hampshire and across the country continue to make only 78 cents to every man’s dollar, there’s still so much more we need to do. I urge my colleagues in the House and the Senate to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act, a bill I cosponsored that will further Lilly Ledbetter’s vitally important work, and help reduce the pay gap between men and women. ” ### |
