Kuster, Shaheen, Hassan Join Energy Secretary Granholm in Nashua to Highlight Energy Efficiency Initiatives

(Nashua, NH) – Today, U.S. Representative Annie Kuster (NH-02), as well as U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH), joined U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm at Turn Cycle Solutions in Nashua, New Hampshire, to discuss the work being done to enhance energy efficiency initiatives across the state, as well as highlight the impact of federal investments through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), which Senators Shaheen and Hassan helped negotiate, and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Photos from today’s event can be found here.

“As Chair of the U.S. Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, I was glad to join Secretary Granholm today at Turn Cycle Solutions to get a firsthand look at how Granite State businesses are building our clean energy future,” said Senator Shaheen. “Investing in energy efficiency benefits our environment, our businesses and Granite State families. I’ll always advocate on behalf of federal resources that help to transform the energy landscape and foster economic growth here in New Hampshire.”

“It was great to join Secretary Granholm and leaders from Turn Cycle Solutions, the New Hampshire Department of Energy, and Clean Energy New Hampshire this morning to hear about how Granite Staters are using the bipartisan infrastructure law and Inflation Reduction Act’s tax cuts and investments to lower their energy costs,” said Senator Hassan. “As New Hampshire sees the impacts of climate change, these laws will help protect our environment, lower energy costs, and strengthen our economy. I will continue working to help get the word out about important opportunities through these laws for New Hampshire families and businesses.”

“It was wonderful to join Energy Secretary Granholm, Turn Cycle Solutions Founder Mike Turcotte, and other local leaders in Nashua today to discuss our energy future,” said Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02). “Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, New Hampshire and our country are on track to transition to a clean energy economy, end our dependence on fossil fuels, and build a resilient, reliable electric grid. By expanding access to renewable energy, we will help families and businesses across our state lower their heating, water, and electricity bills and reduce overall energy demand. Thank you to everyone who joined us today – together, we will lower energy costs across the board and build a brighter future for all!”

Turn Cycle Solutions (TCS) is a Nashua, New Hampshire-based energy auditing and energy efficient construction firm.

Shaheen leads legislative action in the U.S. Senate to support energy efficiency projects and initiatives. Recently, Shaheen introduced the Energy Circuit Riders Act to support local, on-the-ground experts who can help rural communities take advantage of historic investments in energy efficiency and clean energy.  Shaheen also recently visited Exeter's Town Office to highlight a federal energy efficiency grant from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), commonly called the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, coming to Exeter and how it is leveraging efficiency and weatherization funding from NHSaves. In addition, Shaheen successfully included critical provisions of her energy efficiency bill – the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act (ESIC) – with Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) in the IIJA. Shaheen was also a key supporter of the Inflation Reduction Act, which included provisions for clean energy and climate investments in New Hampshire.  Granite Staters looking for energy efficiency resources can check out Senator Shaheen’s Federal Energy Resource Guide.

Senator Hassan is working to strengthen energy efficiency and lower energy costs across New Hampshire. Along with Shaheen, Hassan negotiated the bipartisan infrastructure law, which includes major investments in clean energy. The legislation also supports domestic battery energy storage development and deployment, technology needed to increase the use of renewable energy sources and eliminate reliability gaps throughout the day. These provisions build on Senator Hassan’s bipartisan Battery Storage Innovation Act – which was previously signed into law. In addition, Senator Hassan successfully included in the Inflation Reduction Act her measure with Susan Collins (R-ME) to help lower energy costs for families and reduce carbon emissions by expanding and extending a tax credit for energy efficient home upgrades.
