Kuster Applauds Passage of Security Funding Bills to Support U.S. Allies and Deliver Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Washington, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) celebrated the passage of three critical national security funding bills that mirror the Senate-passed bipartisan National Security Act of 2024. The bills provide U.S. allies in Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan with essential funding and appropriations to support them in their fights for democracy, as well as legislation to deliver critical humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza. Kuster issued the following statement:

“For months, I have implored Speaker Mike Johnson and Republicans to allow a vote on the Senate-passed national security supplemental legislation to provide much-needed assistance to our allies in Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, and to provide desperately needed humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.

“Thankfully, Speaker Johnson accepted Democrats' hand, and today, the House passed an aid package to finally equip our allies in Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan with the security assistance and resources they have desperately needed for months.

“While I’m relieved to see this legislation finally pass the House, it should never have taken this long. I hope this moment marks a turning point for our country – and the world – and offers reassurances that the United States stands firmly with our allies across the globe in their fights for democracy and freedom.”

The package approved by the U.S. House of Representatives includes:

  • The Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act provides a direly needed $60.84 billion to bolster Ukraine’s military in the face of the ongoing Russian assault. The bill also directs funding toward replenishing U.S. weapons and equipment stocks, procurement of new weapons and defensive capabilities, and current U.S. military operations in the region.

  • The Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act delivers $26.38 billion to support Israel and provide humanitarian relief for the Palestinian people. The bill directs funding toward replenishing and bolstering Israeli air defense systems, procuring weapons and other defensive capabilities, and supporting current U.S. military operations in the region. The legislation also provides humanitarian assistance for Palestinians in Gaza and those displaced by conflict around the globe.

  • The Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act allocates $8.12 billion to counter and deter China’s involvement in the Indo-Pacific Region. The bill directs funding to the Foreign Military Financing Program, replenishing U.S. defensive capabilities, and developing and augmenting U.S. submarine infrastructure in the region.
