Concord, NH – Today, Representatives Annie Kuster (NH-02) and Chris Pappas (NH-01) held a telephone town hall to discuss the COVID-19 (coronavirus) public health crisis and take questions from New Hampshire residents. Kuster and Pappas were joined on the call by Dr. Antonia L. Altomare, DO, MPH, Infectious Disease and International Health at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and Major General David Mikolaities, the New Hampshire Adjutant General. The Representatives and officials answered questions from Granite Staters about New Hampshire’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak and steps Congress is taking to bolster the local health response and provide economic relief to families and small businesses. Questions focused on how to effectively practice social distancing, when those who have lost their jobs can expect to receive unemployment payments, what’s being done to support the U.S. Postal Service, and when Granite Staters can expect the economy to re-open. Those who joined the call received an update on legislation to mitigate the financial impact of COVID-19, the direct payments being sent to Americans, and information about resources to access small business loans, unemployment insurance, and more. “This is an unprecedented time in our nation’s history, and as we work together to slow the spread of this virus, Granite Staters are facing serious health, financial, and life challenges,” said Congresswoman Kuster. “These telephone town halls are an important opportunity for me to hear directly from New Hampshire residents and provide updates and information about coronavirus, and I appreciate Dr. Altomare and Major General Mikolaities taking the time to join us today. As Congress continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and as we work to provide crucial financial support and resources to the American people, I will continue to advocate for the needs of our state. As always, those who have questions or are in need of assistance can contact my team by giving our Concord office a call at (603) 226-1002 or visiting my website at http://Kuster.house.gov.” “As Granite Staters continue to navigate these difficult times, Congresswoman Kuster and I remain committed to ensuring our state has the federal resources it needs and our constituents have the most up to date information,” said Congressman Pappas. “Through this series of telephone town halls, we have had the opportunity to remain connected with our constituents and elevate the voices of our local experts to answer questions and share their knowledge. If there are constituents facing hardship as a result of this pandemic who are in need of assistance from our federal agencies, I strongly encourage them to reach out to my office for help by calling (603) 285-4300 or going to https://pappas.house.gov/.” Kuster and Pappas have held six telephone town halls since March 10th, and the Representatives will continue to keep communities updated on federal efforts to support and protect Granite Staters and people across the country. This tele-town hall was conducted remotely, as both Reps. Kuster and Pappas are working from home when possible to practice physical distancing. ### |
