Littleton, NH – This afternoon, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) toured Littleton and visited two local schools, North Country Charter Academy and Littleton High School, to receive an update from school officials and learn more about the job-training programs offered by the schools.

During her school visits, Congresswoman Kuster  toured the facilities and met with local school officials to hear directly from them how Congress can best support their efforts to provide Littleton students with the skills they need to move on to successful careers. The Congresswoman also heard from school officials about the schools’ career oriented curriculums, like Littleton High’s Career Clusters program which readies students for their chosen career paths.

“We must ensure our students have the resources they need to learn the new skills of the 21st century, so they can go on to successful careers after high school and college,” said Congresswoman Annie Kuster. “I was very impressed by the programs I learned about today in Littleton, which start to teach these students the skills they’ll need at a very young age. This legislative session, I will continue to fight for federal support for workforce development programs that help Granite State students and adults alike train for the modern jobs of our high-tech economy.”

Kuster has made access to education and skill-training one of her top priorities this Congress, and during the visit she discussed her own efforts to expand crucial job-training programs across New Hampshire. In order to push workforce development initiatives in DC, Kuster is a member of the bipartisan Career and Technical Education Caucus and co-chair of a 21st Century Jobs Working Group. The Congresswoman’s Middle Class Jobs and Opportunity Agenda, a blueprint she authored last year that that outlines common sense steps to help grow the economy, foster innovation and create jobs in New Hampshire, contains a plan for prioritizing the training of a highly skilled workforce. Additionally, the first bill Congresswoman Kuster introduced in Congress, the Workforce Development Investment Act, would give businesses tax incentives for partnering with schools on workforce development programs, so we can best prepare students with the skills they need to succeed.
