Bedford, NH – This morning, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) spoke about the need for both parties in Congress to work together to support job creation and economic growth during a breakfast with local business leaders hosted by the New England Council. Kuster also discussed ways to support New Hampshire’s small businesses, expand workforce development programs, and improve transportation infrastructure. Following her speech, she took questions from members of the audience on issues facing New Hampshire’s business community.

“Helping create new jobs and opportunities for Granite State workers is one of my top priorities in Congress, and I’ve been delighted to get a chance to visit businesses all across the Granite State to see how they’re contributing to our economy and helping move New Hampshire forward,” said Kuster. “Here in the Granite State, we know that the best way to get things done is to work across the aisle, put aside partisan differences and political stunts, and instead fight for the issues that matter to us. I have been focused on bringing the New Hampshire approach to Washington, and will continue my efforts to fix the broken system so Members of Congress – Republicans, Democrats, and Independents – can all work together to move our country forward.”

Soon after she took office in January 2013, Kuster helped establish the United Solutions Caucus, a bipartisan coalition of Republican and Democratic freshmen Representatives focused on resolving our nation’s fiscal challenges in a common sense, bipartisan way. The group has outlined a framework for addressing our fiscal challenges that’s focused on streamlining government, simplifying the tax code, generating new revenue, and cutting spending – while protecting Social Security and Medicare.

Since first taking office, Kuster has prioritized efforts to foster job creation, grow the economy, and improve workforce development. Last year, she unveiled a Middle Class Jobs and Opportunity Agenda, a blueprint based on meetings with Granite State residents, families, business owners and others, that outlines common sense, bipartisan steps to help grow the economy, foster innovation, and create jobs in New Hampshire and around the country. She routinely visits small businesses and economic development projects across the state through her Congress-At-Your-Company series to hear how she can help support their success, and she will continue to prioritize small business development this legislative session.

Founded in 1925, the New England Council is a non-partisan alliance of businesses, academic and health institutions, and public and private organizations throughout New England formed to promote economic growth and a high quality of life in the New England region.
