Nashua Telegraph: Kuster Talks Employment Services with NH Veterans
U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster, D-N.H., met with veterans, employment specialists and business owners to hear how veterans navigate employment services in the state, and how they may be better served.
"In New Hampshire and Vermont, a very high percentage of the population are veterans," Kuster said, noting New Hampshire has about 65,000 Vietnam Veterans alone. "That's why I think these programs really do stand a chance in New Hampshire. They're going to show up, and they're going to get the job done."
Leading a roundtable discussion at Harbor Homes Monday, Kuster praised the agency for offering outreach and employment help for veterans.
"Harbor Homes is really the gold standard for having it all here,"she said.
"There is no single better strategy for exiting homelessness than gaining employment," Peter Kelleher, President and CEO of Harbor Homes, said.
Harbor Homes provides housing, employment, health care and other supportive services for those experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or living with a disability.
