(Nashua, NH) – Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) joined Nashua YMCA and Manchester VAMC leadership for the ribbon cutting celebration of the Nashua YMCA and Manchester VAMC collaboration to expand wellness offerings to Granite State veterans. The partnership between the Manchester VAMC and Greater Nashua YMCA came about after the Manchester VAMC received a Whole Health Program Grant through the VA Office of Patient Centered Care and Cultural Transformation. Whole Health, also known as “Personalized, Proactive, Patient-driven Care,” is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well-being and to live their life to the fullest. The VA has developed a Whole Health System focused on self-empowerment, self-healing and self-care. “Building relationships between community partners like the YMCA and the VA strengthens the care being delivered to our veterans,” said Kuster. “This collaboration’s whole health approach is an innovative way to support veterans with complex conditions, such as chronic pain and PTSD. I look forward to seeing the relationship between the Manchester VA and the Nashua YMCA grow, and I will continue working to ensure all of our nation’s brave veterans have access to the quality services they deserve.” Kuster was joined by Al Montoya, Medical Center Director of the Manchester VAMC; Mike LaChance, CEO of the Greater Nashua YMCA; Dr. Romy Valdez, Clinical Psychologist at the Manchester VAMC, and local veterans taking part in the classes that are being offered as part of the collaboration. ### |
