(Concord, NH) – Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02), the founder and co-chair of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force, joined state and local officials and members of New Hampshire law enforcement for the opening of the New Hampshire Correctional Facility for Women in Concord. The facility, which is on the same grounds as the men’s prison, will offer treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues, expanded educational opportunities, and job training.

“One of the most important ways we can get out of the opioid epidemic is by closing the loop that traps far too many: substance misuse, incarceration and then release without the support to avoid falling back into the same cycle,” said Kuster. “I am excited to see the enhanced program and treatment opportunities available at the NH Correctional Facility for Women. I know that by providing support and recovery services to women struggling with substance use disorder, we can greatly increase their chances of overcoming addiction and bettering their lives, the lives of their families, and their communities.”
