Kuster Statement on Al Montoya Transition to Director of VA Connecticut Healthcare System
Washington, DC,
September 20, 2019
Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement on Al Montoya’s transition to director of VA Connecticut Healthcare System (HCS). Kuster served on the House Veterans Affairs Committee for 6 years, during which time she worked to address failures at the Manchester VA Medical Center. In 2017, Kuster – who at the time was the Ranking Member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee – convened a field hearing to assess care issues for veterans at the Manchester VA Medical Center. “Director Montoya has been a crucial ally in the effort to improve care for veterans across the Granite State,” said Kuster. “Mr. Montoya has demonstrated steady leadership at both the Manchester VAMC and White River Junction during a tumultuous period of time. We’ve seen great improvements at the Manchester VAMC since revelations of poor care came to light and that is in no small part due to the tireless work of Director Montoya. I’m committed to continuing to advocate on behalf of Granite State veterans and look forward to working with New Hampshire’s VA leadership to bolster care and services for those who have served. While I’m sad to see Al leave, I wish him the best in his next endeavor.” ### |
