Kuster Statement on House Passage of Bipartisan Government Funding Bill

Today, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement after voting to support bipartisan legislation that would prevent a government shutdown at the end of the month. The bill passed the House with a 359-57 vote.

“I am pleased that the House worked to advance critical bipartisan legislation that will prevent a harmful and unnecessary government shutdown,” said Kuster. “As our country continues to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, which has tragically taken the lives of over 200,000 Americans, we must ensure that our government remains open to support the economic and public health needs of Granite Staters. Importantly, this legislation includes a provision to save New Hampshire seniors from an increase in Medicare premiums. I urge the Senate to consider this legislation without delay.”

The Continuing Appropriations Act of 2021 would continue funding the federal government through December 11, 2020, in addition to providing the Small Business Administration (SBA) with additional flexibility to process and service new and existing disaster loans. This legislation also provides for a one-year extension of surface transportation programs to ensure the federal government continues infrastructure investments in the new fiscal year.
