Kuster Statement on President Trump’s Executive Action on Support Services for Veterans Returning Home
(Washington, DC) – Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02), a member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement on President Trump’s Executive Order on services for veterans who are transitioning to civilian life. The Executive Order includes several Kuster priorities, such as transitioning the VA’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) to the same system used by the Department of Defense (DOD).
“The announcement today outlines important steps to improve support for returning veterans, but this is just the beginning,” said Congresswoman Kuster. “The Administration should work with Congress in a bipartisan manner to expand and improve care for all veterans by allocating the necessary resources to fully support VA efforts and update outdated VA systems and facilities. Additionally, the Administration should include a focus on pain management, substance misuse treatment, especially for opioids, and military sexual trauma, when considering efforts to reduce veteran suicide and address mental health challenges.”
