Kuster Statement on the Announcement of Opioid Funding for New Hampshire

(Concord, NH) – Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement on the announcement that New Hampshire will soon receive $3,128,366 in funding from the 21st Century Cures Act which was passed by Congress and signed into law last year.

“I’m encouraged that more funding will be coming to New Hampshire to support those on the frontlines of the substance use crisis,” said Congresswoman Kuster. “We know that access to treatment and recovery services can still be a challenge for those seeking support for substance misuse and that law enforcement would benefit from additional resources. However, as I’ve expressed to officials, this funding should be targeted to the areas with the greatest need, which unfortunately includes New Hampshire. I’ve written to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to express my concern about the formula currently in use and will continue to advocate for additional resources for New Hampshire.”
