Kuster Statement on President Trump Spreading Dangerous Disinformation Ahead of Election

Washington, D.C., July 30, 2020

Today, Representative Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement on President Trump’s tweet where he made false claims about mail-in voting and raised the possibility of delaying the election:

“In 2016, candidate Trump warned of ‘widespread voter fraud’ and claimed that the election would be ‘rigged,’” said Kuster. “Now, he is making false claims about mail-in voting and raising the possibility of delaying the election. Congress – and only Congress – has the power to set the date of federal elections. Voting by mail is safe, secure, and reliable. Votes will be counted on Election Day, November 3, 2020. President Trump's disinformation campaign poses a dangerous threat to our democracy and must be condemned by all.”
