Kuster Votes to Restore Net Neutrality Protections
Washington, DC,
April 10, 2019
Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) voted in favor of H.R. 1644, the Save the Internet Act of 2019, which passed the House. Kuster is a co-sponsor of the legislation, which would restore net neutrality protections for internet users that were repealed by the Trump Administration in 2018. In addition, the bill would enact authorities to support broadband access and adoption for rural communities and struggling Americans. “I’ve heard from thousands of Granite Staters about the importance of restoring net neutrality protections to ensure that everyone has an equal playing field when it comes to internet access,” said Kuster. “In today’s world, the internet is a vital tool to spread ideas and information, which is key to economic growth and mobility. This legislation will put net neutrality protections back in place that keep the internet fair and open for families and small businesses in New Hampshire. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to swiftly bring this bill to a vote.” Congresswoman Kuster has been outspoken in her opposition to the FCC’s repeal of Net Neutrality protections, cosponsoring legislation in the 115th Congress to reject the FCC’s repeal order. She also called on former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan to hold a vote on legislation to restore net neutrality protections. |
