Concord, N.H. –– Today, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) hosted a virtual roundtable with State Senator Becky Whitley and New Hampshire Women’s Foundation leadership to highlight support for Granite State women included in the American Rescue Plan and to discuss the legislation’s positive impact on New Hampshire families. Kuster helped get the American Rescue Plan Act over the finish line in the House and advocated to include key support for NH families including the expanded Child Tax Credit and additional Economic Impact Payments.
Kuster was joined by NH State Senator Becky Whitley (Senate District 15); Hon. Martha Fuller Clark, former State Senator and Chair of NH Women’s Foundation Board; Tanna Clews, CEO, NH Women’s Foundation; Crystal Paradis, Director of Strategic Communications and Community Engagement for NH Women’s Foundation; and New Hampshire Women’s Foundation board members.
“I was grateful for the opportunity to speak with State Senator Becky Whitley and New Hampshire Women’s Foundation leadership today about the positive impact of the American Rescue Plan Act in our state and the progress we have achieved in our recovery efforts,” said Rep. Kuster. “I am proud to have fought in Congress for this transformative relief bill — the first major step as we recover from the COVID-19 public health emergency and work to build back better. The pandemic has had serious consequences for women in our state and across the nation — 1 in 4 American women have left the workforce in the past year. I will continue leading efforts to secure additional support for women and families and ensure no one is left behind as we rebuild and recover.”
“Women have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 in so many ways, taking on higher health and employment risks to survive and care for their families through this global pandemic,” said Tanna Clews, CEO of New Hampshire Women’s Foundation. “Our policies at both the state and national level must respond to the needs of women and families if we are going to recover equitably. We thank Congresswoman Kuster for fighting for the health and economic security of New Hampshire women and families.”
Throughout the COVID-19 public health and economic crisis, Kuster has been advocating for women and families. The Kuster-backed American Rescue Plan included critical support to lift hardworking Granite State families through the expanded Child Tax Credit and Economic Impact Payments. A strong advocate for paycheck fairness and an original cosponsor of the Paycheck Fairness Act that the House passed earlier this year, Kuster has worked to level the playing field for women and their families and fought to create equal opportunities for female professionals and women-owned businesses.
