Kuster Statement on Tragic Passing of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski

Concord, N.H. — Today, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement on the death of Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02):

“Brad and I are shocked and deeply saddened by the loss of my friend and colleague, Congresswoman Jackie Walorski. I first met Jackie at our New Member Orientation in late 2012. We bonded over our husbands’ love of jazz. Over the years, Jackie and I became close personal friends, setting politics aside and finding common ground. Congresswoman Walorski cared deeply about her constituents — her dedication to finding solutions and willingness to work across the aisle set her apart from many of our colleagues. I was proud to work with her on a variety of critical issues, including legislation to address the addiction crisis, end sexual violence, and help military sexual assault survivors access the care they need.

“My thoughts are with Congresswoman Walorski’s husband, Dean Swihart, and their loved ones, as well as the loved ones of her two staff members who were killed in today’s horrific accident, and her Indiana community during this incredibly difficult time.”
