Yesterday, our country commemorated the first anniversary of the violent January 6th attack on the United States Capitol and the failed insurrection attempt to overturn the lawful election of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

America does not yet know just how close we — Members of Congress, staff, journalists, and our very democracy — came to our demise on January 6th. It’s essential we remember the violence of that day, stand up against the far-right conspiracies that motivated the mob, and unite to defend our democracy and its future.

I am so grateful for the United States Capitol Police who keep guard of Congress and our democracy, each and every day.

January 6th was a dark day for our country, but thanks to the courage and bravery of U.S. Capitol and DC police officers, democracy prevailed and Congress returned to the Capitol that same night to ensure the peaceful transition of power. Yesterday, I was honored to thank our Capitol police officers for all they do and serve them a well-deserved meal.

Throughout the day, I spoke with multiple news outlets and journalists to talk about my experience during the attack, how Congress commemorated the first anniversary, and how our country can move forward to ensure nothing like January 6th can ever happen again.

First responders at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester spoke to the Union Leader about the stress they are under and the most recent COVID surge, driven by the unvaccinated.

Our Granite State hospitals and health care workers are at their breaking point. If New Hampshire continues at the rate we are going, COVID-19 is going to push our hospitals over the edge.
