Dear Friend,
I want to take this opportunity to tell you how proud I am to represent you in Congress and how honored I am to have the opportunity to continue to do so for another term. As the health and economic crisis caused by COVID-19 continues to have far-reaching effects here in the Granite State, I am committed to ensuring that our communities have the resources and support they need to get through this difficult time.
It’s been an intense week for all of us as we await the results of the presidential election, but there’s news that we should be sure not to overlook - sadly, the United States had a record-breaking week for new cases of COVID-19. On Thursday alone, 121,000 Americans tested positive for coronavirus. Today, our nation recorded more than 100,000 new cases for the third day in a row. My thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the more than 236,000 who have died from COVID-19 and with the nearly 10 million Americans who have tested positive.
Cases continue to rise here in the Granite State, with 372 new cases of COVID-19 reported between Wednesday and Thursday, and 209 cases reported just today. We are seeing increased community transmission, and it’s crucial that we take every precaution necessary to stop the spread. Wearing a mask while in public or around those who are vulnerable, avoiding crowds, practicing physical distancing, and frequent hand washing remain the most effective tools we have to stop the spread and save lives.
