Telehealth prescribing has played a critical role in expanding access to substance use disorder treatments like buprenorphine, which can help safely treat opioid use disorder—especially for patients in rural communities who face barriers to receiving in-person care.
This week, I was proud to lead my colleagues in sending a bipartisan letter to the Biden Administration urging the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to preserve prescribing flexibilities so that patients can continue accessing the treatments and services they need to recover. At a time when overdose deaths are finally falling, it’s essential we keep our foot on the gas peddle and harness this momentum.
