This week, I joined Senator Maggie Hassan and leading behavioral health experts at the New England Council's Behavioral Health Forum to discuss our work in Congress to address mental health and substance use disorder in New Hampshire and beyond.
While we’ve made progress here in New Hampshire and across the country, more work remains. Every life lost to substance use disorder is a tragedy — too many Granite Staters lose their lives to overdose, and for many, access to quality treatment and recovery services are barriers on their path to recovery.
Despite these challenges, we will not give up. As the chair of the Bipartisan Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Task Force, I am proud to lead the effort in Congress to bring together lawmakers from across the aisle as we work to address the challenges facing our communities. Together, we laid out a legislative agenda to tackle this crisis head-on, improve access to life-saving treatment, end the stigma around recovery, stop the flow of dangerous drugs into our communities, and ensure Granite State families and others across the country have the support and resources they need to thrive.
