Hello Friends,
We are forever indebted to the brave men and women who defend our country in the name of democracy and freedom, and our fallen service members represent the best our country has to offer. We owe them and their families a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. As we head into Memorial Day, we should all take a moment to honor those who have given so much so that we can enjoy the freedoms we hold dear.

To those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, we thank you for your service.
|
Advocating for our country’s heroic service members, veterans, and their families has been the highest honor of my life, and as the daughter of a World War II veteran and prisoner of war, it is deeply personal to me.
|
I carry the values instilled in me by my father, Malcolm McLane, every day in Congress.
|
This Memorial Day and every day, we thank those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country, our freedoms, and the ideals of the greatest nation in the world. We are forever grateful to these brave men and women and their loved ones who carry on their memories.

I will always fight for our veterans, service members, and their families.
|
This week, I joined President Biden in Nashua to mark one million approved claims under the PACT Act – legislation that has expanded health care and benefits for veterans who were exposed to burn pits and other toxic substances – including more than 4,300 Granite State veterans. Our veterans deserve the best possible care, and the Honoring Our PACT Act is helping us fulfill that promise.
I was proud to lead the charge in Congress to pass this bipartisan legislation, and I applaud President Biden’s commitment to supporting our veterans and their families and ensuring they can access the health care they need and deserve.
You can read more about this bipartisan legislation here.

I’ll continue working to expand access to life-saving medications like naloxone.
|
The substance use disorder epidemic has impacted every community across the country, and we need to use every tool at our disposal to turn the tide against this crisis. Overdose reversal medications are safe and effective tools that can reduce overdose deaths, but only if they’re accessible and affordable.
I was proud to lead several of my colleagues in a letter to the Government Accountability Office to request a study on the availability and affordability of critical overdose reversal medications like naloxone so that everyone can access this life-saving medicine.
You can read my letter here.

Expanding access to generic medications can significantly help lower prescription drug costs.
|
The FDA plays a critical role in developing and regulating new medications and therapeutics, but these medicines are only beneficial if patients can access and afford them.
This week in the Energy and Commerce Committee, I urged my colleagues to support my bipartisan legislation to encourage competition, increase access to generics, and ensure that generic drug approvals are not delayed due to patent gaming.

The internet has changed dramatically over the last thirty years since Section 230 was adopted.
|
As the founder and co-chair of the Bipartisan Task Force to End Sexual Violence, I’m deeply concerned that Section 230 has become a shield used to protect online predators and a barrier to survivors seeking justice. This week, I urged Congress to take action and clarify to what extent online platforms can be shielded from liability when they knowingly allow bad actors to run amok. We have a responsibility to ensure that online legal protections are functioning as Congress originally intended.

I’ll keep working to expand access to mental health care and reduce stigma so everyone can get the support they need.
|
Mental health is just as important as physical health, and everyone deserves access to quality, affordable mental health care. Also this week, my New Democrat Coalition held a Mental Health Awareness Month Roundtable to discuss the challenges and solutions to address our country’s mental health crisis and the work that remains to build a future where every American has access to the resources they need to live a healthier life free of stigma.

PACT Act Benefits: There’s no deadline to apply for benefits under the PACT Act, and over one million claims have already been approved, including more than 4,000 in the Granite State. New Hampshire is home to 50,000 veterans who deserve more than just a thank you for their service and sacrifices, they deserve action. If you or a loved one may be eligible for benefits, don’t wait. Visit the PACT Act website to apply today or to learn more about what the PACT Act could mean for you. You can also call 1-800-698-2411.

During Military Appreciation Month, our nation honors the strength and sacrifices of members of the armed forces, past and present.
|
Free National Park Military Passes: The U.S. Department of Interior is proud to offer free Military Passes to thank current U.S. military members and their dependents, Gold Star Families, and U.S. military veterans for their support of our country and to encourage them to explore recreational opportunities in their public lands and waters.
