These funds will increase the number of qualified nursing faculty and improve patient experiences and outcomes.

Nurses are the backbone of our state’s health care system – it is essential that we invest in the next generation of qualified nurses here in New Hampshire.

This week, I was proud to help announce new federal resources heading to Rivier University in Nashua to create new pathways for well-trained students to join the workforce and increase the number of qualified nursing faculty.

These funds will provide direct financial assistance to the Errol, New Hampton, Surry, and Warren fire departments.

New Hampshire firefighters put themselves in harm’s way every day to protect our communities. We have a responsibility to equip them with the tools and support they need to do their jobs safely.

This week, I helped announce new federal funding for firefighters across New Hampshire’s Second District to expand their vehicle fleets, purchase protective gear, and more.

Our seniors shouldn’t have to worry about affording the physical therapy they need.

Physical and occupational therapy are essential parts of recovery for thousands of Medicare beneficiaries in New Hampshire and across the country. I will continue working to ensure Medicare beneficiaries can access and afford the quality care they need, regardless of where they live.

This week, I was proud to introduce bipartisan legislation to ensure no seniors are denied the treatment they need to recover, heal, and thrive.

Staying Safe During Extreme Heat: As the summer heats up and we experience more frequent and intense heat waves here in New Hampshire, staying cool and hydrated is important to prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The CDC recommends you take the following precautions:

• Never leave children or pets alone in closed vehicles.
• Drink plenty of water, even if you do not feel thirsty.
• Check on family, friends, and neighbors who do not have air conditioning and who spend much of their time alone.
• Check on your animals frequently to ensure they are not suffering from the heat.
• Go to a designated public shelter if your home loses power during periods of extreme heat. Stay on the lowest floor out of the sunshine if air conditioning is not available.
• Check the weather for critical updates from the National Weather Service (NWS).
