Congresswoman Kuster visits with children at the Concord Community Center

(Concord, NH) – Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) toured the new Concord Community Center and met with Concord city officials, as well as seniors, school-age day campers and other individuals utilizing the Center. After leaving the Community Center, Kuster toured the Concord YMCA’s newly renovated Child Development Center and met with YMCA leadership, Child Development Center staff, and young children who are being cared for at the center. She discussed progress at the center and her support for the renovation project.

“It was wonderful to tour both of these facilities and see firsthand all they have to offer to the Concord community,” said Kuster. “In order to continue growing New Hampshire’s economy, we must invest in our communities and provide families with the quality child care, educational materials, programming and recreational opportunities they want, deserve, and need in order to put down roots in the Granite State. As a state with an aging population it’s also critical that we have support for Granite Staters as they grow older. I’m grateful for the important services provided by the Concord Community Center and the YMCA’s Child Development Center, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to make our state an even better place to call home.”

Last month, the City of Concord completed construction of the new community center, which is 31,000 square feet. More details about the facility’s amenities are available HERE.

Kuster wrote a letter of support for the City of Concord’s Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA)- Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application for renovation of the YMCA’s Child Development Center. The grant funds have enabled the facility to make several improvements, including switching from a steam to a gas-fire burner, several interior renovations, and upgrading the center’s playground.
