NASHUA– Erica Taylor was a single mother of three when she first started studying at Nashua Community College a few years ago.

Now, she is getting ready to graduate with an associate’s degree in general studies.

And while Taylor said she’s looking to pursue a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology at a four-year college, there’s something else about her graduation she’s dreading: student loans.

“When I first started, I really depended on loans, even for living expenses,” Taylor said Monday. “I was taking out almost the most that I could take. Now that I am getting ready to graduate, I was looking at how much I would owe, and it was kind of a shock to me.”

Taylor was one of several students and staff members from Nashua Community College who gathered Monday to talk about student loans and the burden of paying for higher education with United States Rep. Anne McLane Kuster.
