Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) highlighted the negative impact of the partial government shutdown on New Hampshire and shared some of the stories she has heard from constituents who are facing financial hardship. This comes as resources for survivors of domestic violence are threatened by the continuing shutdown.

“It’s long past time that this irresponsible and unnecessary government shutdown came to an end,” said Kuster. “Today I shared stories I’ve heard from Granite Staters who are facing real hardship because of President Trump’s unwillingness to reopen the government. The House of Representatives has voted to reopen the government and Senator McConnell and President Trump should follow our lead. Many Republicans and Democrats agree that we need comprehensive immigration reform that includes 21st Century border security, however, that cannot be achieved while President Trump holds government employees hostage for his ineffective border wall. It’s time President Trump reopened the government so that we can focus on the hard work expected of us by the American people.”
