Today, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement on House passage of H.J. Res 80, a bipartisan measure that would allow the Veterans Affairs Administration (VA) to conduct a dental health access pilot and broaden the ability of veterans to get the dental care they need. The resolution was proposed as part of the VA Mission Act of 2018, which Kuster co-sponsored and was signed into law by President Trump in June 2018. Through the pilot program, the VA would refer veterans who are ineligible for dental benefits to private providers or community programs that offer pro bono or discounted dental services.

“After bravely serving our country, many veterans lack access to quality dental care, which is critical to overall health and wellbeing,” said Rep. Kuster. “The bipartisan legislation we passed today will help ensure veterans have access to the care they need. I’m pleased the House has passed this commonsense measure and I will continue working to ensure those who have served our nation have the services and support they deserve.”

Rep. Kuster is a cosponsor of H.R. 96, which would require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to furnish dental care in the same manner as any other medical service, and for any reason. The daughter of a World War II veteran, Kuster served on the House Veterans Affairs Committee for six years and continues to work across the aisle to improve access to care and support for veterans in New Hampshire and across the country.
