Kuster Statement on President Trump Ending COVID Relief Negotiations, Postponing Until After Election

Today, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement after President Trump announced on Twitter that he has instructed his administration to stop negotiating on a COVID-19 relief package until after the election:

“Granite Staters and Americans across the country are hurting and they need relief – that's why we passed the HEROES Act in the House nearly five months ago. The health and economic crisis caused by COVID-19 didn't have to be this bad, but Senate Republicans and President Trump refuse to provide Americans the support they need.

“More than 7.5 million Americans have tested positive for the virus, over 210,000 have died, and millions have lost their jobs. But today, President Trump demanded an end to COVID-19 relief negotiations, all while his administration is working to overturn the Affordable Care Act and jam through a SCOTUS nominee who would vote to strip health care from millions. Today, the President made it clear that he only cares about one patient: himself. He doesn't care about the economic fallout from this crisis or the pain it has caused countless families, small businesses, and workers.”
