Today, after officials at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), National Institute of Health (NIH), and Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as other Administration officials, briefed Members of the House of Representatives on the government’s plan to protect Americans from coronavirus, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement.

“We need a clear chain of command in terms of federal and local authorities to eliminate any confusion with the information that Granite Staters receive – while the risk to New Hampshire remains low right now, we must ensure that folks are prepared and know to take simple precautions including handwashing and avoiding contact with people who are sick. If you do have symptoms, including a fever, call a health care professional and follow their advice.

“Additionally, we must have adequacy of testing for patients who demonstrate symptoms of coronavirus. This is a crucial component to support our prevention efforts. In Congress, Democrats and Republicans must work together to advance an emergency funding package that ensures our federal agencies have the resources they need to protect public health. Now is not the time to play politics.”
