Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02), the founder and co-chair of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force, released the following statement on the omnibus government funding legislation which includes more than $3 billion in new opioid funding:
“I have discussed with both House Appropriators and Leadership the importance of providing a legislative fix in the omnibus to ensure that opioid funding is targeted to states that are the hardest hit. I’m encouraged that the funding bill we've agreed to directs the Trump Administration to adjust its opioid distribution formula and provides dedicated resources to the most affected states so that communities with the greatest need receive appropriate funding. I’m also pleased that the omnibus provides more than $3 billion in new funding to combat the opioid epidemic. I've strongly advocated for robust funding to take on the crisis, and this is an important step. I'll continue to push for long term funding to ensure the treatment community, healthcare providers, and law enforcement have the certainty they need.”
