Kuster knows WH Bagshaw's history as the oldest U.S. pin manufacturer and felt the company's 143-year history added a New Hampshire perspective to Congress' celebration of National Small Business Week.

As the owner of a small but thriving Internet sales business, Travis Adams fears for his company's future should the Marketplace Fairness Act come to fruition. The Internet sales tax legislation, which recently was passed by the Senate, would force online retailers like Adams to collect sales taxes on behalf of more than 9,000 taxing jurisdictions nationwide.

Most Americans want to be able to work hard, buy a house, and get their children into college, said U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster, D-N.H. “It shouldn’t be too much to ask,” Kuster said. Kuster went to River Valley Community College on Wednesday to meet with staff and students to discuss a looming change to the interest rates on student loans.
