Advocating for New Hampshire

Dear Friend,

The gymnasts who have spoken out about the misconduct of Larry Nassar have demonstrated incredible strength, courage and determination. We cannot allow other young athletes to suffer the abuses faced by these brave survivors. That’s why on Tuesday I introduced the bipartisan Keep Young Athletes Safe Act of 2018 with Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX). This legislation will fund programs that protect athletes under the jurisdiction of the United States Olympic Committee from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and will help ensure that these young men and women can train in a safe, supportive environment. This legislation will help equip young athletes and their parents with the skills to recognize dangerous situations, and support efforts to keep predators out of youth sports. I will continue to advocate on behalf of survivors of sexual violence and work to hold perpetrators of these despicable acts responsible.

Shoes representing children killed by gun violence since Sandy Hook. Watch here.

The heartbreaking toll that gun violence has taken on our country was shown in a chilling manner on Tuesday when thousands of shoes were laid out at the U.S. Capitol to represent the children who have been killed by gun violence since the Sandy Hook tragedy in 2012. I was so proud to see students at high schools across New Hampshire and around the country on Wednesday stand up for what they believe in and call for action to address these ongoing, senseless killings. Students deserve to feel safe in school, and we need common sense reforms, including the requirement that all firearm sales be subject to background checks. I will continue to advocate for responsible gun laws while protecting the Second Amendment.

As your Representative, my most important job is supporting Granite Staters when they need help with federal agencies. I was contacted by Harriet Cady, Treasurer of NH Right to Know, of Deerfield who was having trouble getting an Employee Identification Number (EIN) from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the Right to Know group. My staff worked with the IRS and helped Harriet obtain their EIN. If my office may ever be of assistance with a problem you are experiencing, please reach out to my staff at 603-226-1002 so we may help you resolve your problem or get the information you need.

Change can only happen when people like you speak up and demand it. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office or visit my website at kuster.house.gov to share your ideas and concerns.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
