(Concord, NH) - Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02), the founder and co-chair of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force, applauded passage of the INTERDICT Act in the Senate. The legislation will now head to the President's desk for his signature. The bill ensures that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has the new screening devices, laboratory equipment, facilities, and personnel they need to detect and intercept fentanyl and other synthetic opioids. Th INTERDICT Act, co-sponsored by Kuster, is one of the pieces of legislation on the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force's legislative agenda. 

"We know that a comprehensive approach is necessary to take on the opioid epidemic that's impacting communities throughout New Hampshire and the country," said Congresswoman Kuster. "That means expanding treatment and recovery services and also supporting law enforcement. The INTERDICT Act will help US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reduce the flow of fentanyl and synthetic opioids from outside the country by giving CBP the necessary tools to detect and intercept these dangerous substances. I am pleased that the agenda of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force is continuing to advance and I urge the President to sign this commonsense legislation that will help keep our country safe.”
