(Concord, NH) – Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement on President Trump announcing his plan this afternoon to overhaul how Medicare pays for certain drugs. Earlier this year, Kuster called on the President to deliver on his campaign message to allow Medicare to directly negotiate the prices of prescription drugs.

“While I am encouraged by the direction of the proposals President Trump outlined today, we need to do more to truly cut the outrageous prices of prescription drugs,” said Kuster. “To provide real relief to consumers in the Granite State and across the country, we must end the stranglehold pharmaceutical companies have on prescription drug prices and fully give Medicare the ability to directly negotiate costs. I urge the President to keep his promise to make drugs more affordable by calling for this much-needed change.”
