Kuster Applauds Passage of the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act of 2017
Washington, DC,
November 29, 2017
Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) is applauding last night’s passage of the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act of 2017. This legislation will improve mental health services for members of law enforcement and includes a requirement that the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs report on their mental health services so that best practices can be adopted by the Department of Justice. "Members of the Granite State law enforcement community do incredible work to protect our communities and keep us all safe every day," said Congresswoman Kuster. "This legislation will improve mental health services and examine best practices for members of law enforcement administered through the Department of Justice. As we deal with the devastating opioid epidemic, law enforcement is increasingly responding to the scenes of often fatal overdoses. This is incredibly taxing and we owe it to our men and women in uniform to ensure they have the support they need." ### |
