Kuster: Focus On Bipartisan Reform, Not Old Political Battles

Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement in response to today’s votes to undermine implementation of health care reform.

Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement in response to today’s votes to undermine implementation of health care reform:

“The Affordable Care Act is not a perfect law, and I am committed to working with both parties, the business community, and all stakeholders to improve it and to take common sense steps to reduce the costs of health care. But make no mistake: we can’t go back to the days when insurance companies were free to deny coverage to those with preexisting conditions or drop sick people from their plans.

“The fact is, this law is already allowing young people to stay on their parents’ health insurance plans, prohibiting discrimination against patients with preexisting conditions, and saving seniors money on their prescription drugs. Efforts to undo these important reforms will do nothing to strengthen our health care system. Instead of refighting old political battles, Republicans and Democrats should work together to help reduce health care costs and increase security for hardworking middle class families in New Hampshire.”
