Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02), the founder and co-chair of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force, released the following statement on reports that Senate Republicans are adding $45 billion in opioid funding while slashing Medicaid funding:

“Funding to address the opioid crisis is critical but it shouldn’t be used as leverage to win over votes for legislation that would threaten access to comprehensive healthcare for thousands of Granite Staters and millions of Americans. The Senate healthcare bill would slash Medicaid funding, hurting access to treatment and recovery services, as well as full healthcare coverage. This temporary funding isn’t going to solve a problem that we know will be a long-term challenge.”
