Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01), Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, and Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) today announced that Easterseals NH will be receiving nearly $1 million from the US Department of Health and Human Services’s Administration for Community Living to help deliver supportive services to people with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Easterseals NH offers an array of support for seniors, including services for those providing care for individuals with Alzheimer’s, and adult day health care programs. Easterseals NH also operates a homemakers and health nonprofit that serves individuals with Alzheimer’s, providing housekeeping, meal preparations, transportation, personal care, companionship, and medication reminders.

“Nearly one in eight Americans over age 65 are living with Alzheimer’s, but for these individuals and their caregivers, essential supportive services such as home-based care, adult day care, and aid or coaching for caregivers are often too expensive or difficult to access,” said Shea-Porter. “We must do more to ensure these individuals and their families have the support and services they need, which is why I have sought increased funding for research into Alzheimer’s Disease and why I will continue to support federal programs that provide funding to organizations such as Easterseals NH. I am grateful for the critical services offered by Easterseals NH to individuals with Alzheimer’s and the assistance the organization provides to those caring for their loved ones.”
