Kuster Statement on FCC Vote to Protect Net Neutrality

This afternoon, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement regarding today’s vote by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to set new rules to protect a free and open internet:

“I commend the FCC for taking action to protect Net Neutrality, which is critical to 21st century commerce and communication. American consumers and entrepreneurs depend on access to a modern broadband network, and I look forward to continuing to support policies that foster innovation, protect free speech, and preserve the open model that has made the internet such an unparalleled success.”

Congresswoman Kuster is a cosponsor of the bipartisan Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act, which would help keep internet service affordable by permanently banning state and local taxes on internet access. A strong supporter of the innovation economy and e-commerce, Kuster has repeatedly advocated against a proposed online sales tax, which would force New Hampshire small businesses to serve as tax collectors for more than 9,000 out-of-state sales tax jurisdictions.
