Kuster Thanks New Hampshire Postal Workers, Calls for Additional Support for USPS

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02), joined New Hampshire postal workers, legislators, community allies, members of the New Hampshire Congressional Delegation, and supporters of the United States Postal Service (USPS) to thank them for their work defending and upholding the crucial work of the USPS despite partisan efforts to inhibit the distribution of mail.

“The U.S. Postal Service is crucial to the everyday lives of Granite Staters and to our very democracy – especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic – and we must do everything we can to protect it,” said Rep. Kuster. “I am so heartened by the dedication of our New Hampshire postal workers and USPS allies and want to recognize their extraordinary work to protect the USPS from political efforts to sabotage this essential institution. Granite Staters and Americans across the nation depend on the USPS for their medications, voting, paychecks, Social Security, and so many other essential needs. As we continue to combat the COVID-19 public health crisis, the USPS must remain a reliable service for all Americans. I will continue working to protect and support the USPS, its mission, tradition, and its many employees through my work in Congress.”

Congresswoman Kuster proudly stands with the USPS and our postal workers. She co-sponsored the Delivering for America Act, which prohibits the Postal Service from implementing any changes to operations or level of service it had in place on January 1, 2020 and provides $25 billion in critical funding to support the Postal Service. This bill passed the House on August 22, 2020. Kuster also voted for the HEROES Act, which included $25 billion for the USPS, and would end the Treasury Department's blockade of the $10 billion loan previously authorized for USPS in the CARES Act. In September, Representatives Kuster and Pappas toured the U.S. Postal Service’s Logistics and Distribution Center in Nashua to learn about its operation and underscore the importance of protecting the USPS from ongoing Administration efforts to slow service and undermine confidence in this public service.
