Kuster Statement on House Passage of 25th Amendment Resolution

**Today, the House passed H.Res 21 calling on the Vice President to invoke the 25th Amendment**

Concord, N.H. — Today, Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement on House passage of H.Res 21, calling on Vice President Pence to convene and mobilize the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment declaring President Donald Trump incapable of executing the duties of the office.

“On January 3rd I swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” said Rep. Kuster. “Three days later, insurrectionists incited by President Trump violently stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to illegally and forcefully reverse the results of a free and fair democratic election. These individuals were not protestors exercising their First Amendment rights, they were domestic terrorists. We cannot brush off this attack, move on as if it didn’t happen, or ignore President Trump’s central role in inciting this violence.

Rep. Kuster continued, “The President has shown time and again that he is either unable or unwilling to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States or the American people. Every day he remains in office, our country and our citizens are at risk. I support this House Resolution which calls on Vice President Pence to convene the Cabinet and invoke the 25th Amendment to ensure that the final days of this Administration are peaceful and free of bloodshed. I implore Vice President Pence to abandon his blind fidelity to Donald Trump and instead uphold his oath of office and remove this dangerous president.”

Following the deadly attack on the Capitol last week, Rep. Kuster called for Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office.
