Kuster Calls for Direct Negotiations of Drug Prices by Medicare

**Call comes as President Trump outlines plan to address prescription drug prices**

(Concord, NH) – Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) is urging President Trump to follow through on his campaign message to allow the direct negotiation of prescription drug prices by Medicare. The call comes as President Trump outlines a proposal to address costs that does not include the direct negotiating of drug prices. On the campaign trail in New Hampshire, then candidate Trump highlighted the savings that could be achieved if Medicare were able to directly negotiate for drug prices.

“The prices Granite Staters are facing for prescription drugs are simply unacceptable,” said Kuster. “While President Trump and I may have disagreed on many issues during the 2016 campaign, I did appreciate his support for direct negotiation of drug prices by Medicare and am disappointed that proposal was not included in today’s announcement. Continuing to prohibit the negotiation of drug prices is a massive giveaway to the pharmaceutical industry. It’s long past time we changed this misguided policy to lower costs for consumers.”
