Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02), a Member of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, participated in a hearing entitled, "Caring for America: Legislation to Support Patients, Caregivers, and Providers." During the hearing, Members heard from care economy experts and considered legislation to support our nation’s health care workforce. Rep. Kuster used her time to highlight the importance of new approaches such as telehealth to support care workers, especially in rural and underserved areas.

“I consistently hear from health care providers in my district about the ongoing workforce crisis,” said Rep. Kuster. “We must examine ways to grow, diversify, and strengthen the clinical care and health workforce, while supporting providers in the short term who cannot meet the current labor demands necessary to care for our communities, particularly in underserved areas. I’m proud to be leading this charge in Congress and on this Committee by advancing new systems like telehealth to support patients and doctors in New Hampshire and beyond.”

Rep. Kuster is a strong advocate for bolstering the care economy for the benefit of patients and health care workers. Earlier this year, she helped reintroduce the Reducing Unnecessary Senior Hospitalizations (RUSH) Act of 2021, bipartisan, bicameral legislation to facilitate greater use of telehealth in skilled nursing facilities.
